Gold in the Rees

Even after over 20 years painting here it continues to amaze me what the mountains do to the light, how it gets channeled between them, how you sometimes are shocked by the realisation that you're standing in the shadow of a mountain, and looking around seeing how far it stretches you begin to appreciate the actual size of the thing. Is there a better way to put your problems in perspective? The stars on a clear night and the ocean, I suppose. Everything we see we try to squeeze into the human frame of reference, but things like this can take you out of yourself.
